Inclusion of Environmental Dimension in University Curricula
The traditional educational model prevailing in most advanced education institutions and universities is based on mechanic principles and passive instruction where themes are presented in a fragmented and reduccionist way contrary to the interdisciplinary and dynamic ways of environmental education. Therefore, advanced education is a field where sustainable development could be implemented to achieve social transformation.
ECAmbiental offers the adequate support to universities and educational institutions in general, in order to help them during their daily routines in the formation of critical thinker citizens that will have knowledge, abilities, attitudes, aptitudes and values to better preserve their environment. We promote the integration of environmental themes on the general educational curriculum either in programs formally developed or still in progress. We suggest action that will directly influence the strengthening of environmental issues on the graduates which, in turn, benefit the sustainable development in their future work field and in the community.
Regardless of the educational level, bachelor, graduate or postgraduate, there is always the possibility to enhance curricula with the necessary environmental issues resulting in a more respectful and balanced interaction of the individual with his/her surrounding entourage and community.
